Is It Worth Rushing?

I hope everyone is blessed! I want to first give a shout out to all of us for making it this far and surviving all the lockdowns that we went through. This post is aimed at the creatives, content creators, entrepreneurs… anyone who has started up a new venture recently.

I’ve had my own blog for about 3 years, but if I’m going to be honest with you guys, my consistency has been very up and down. However, as we’re coming out of lockdown, I do feel as though there is no better time than the present for you to take advantage of the plans that I know you’ve been sitting on.

During the last lockdown, I made both Instagram and Twitter accounts for the Trials and Tribulations blog, so that I would be able to express my creativity in different ways that weren’t just writing. It has been a bit of challenge, because not only do I have to be consistent on my blog, but on those platforms as well. I have been finding it hard because I always feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day to get the things that I want done. One thing I’ve learned about myself through it all, is that I really do enjoy being a writer and content creator.

I am everyone’s hypewoman and I love seeing new content and projects popping up every day, both from my friends and people I don’t know. Funnily enough, I do believe that being in lockdown was a blessing in disguise for a lot of us. Being cooped up at home gave us the time and opportunity to launch new businesses or start our own brands. As your hype woman, I want to encourage you all of you to keep going with your hustles…

But I want to say SLOW DOWN!

Although we’re slowly starting to move back into normal life, the future isn’t 100% clear. Some of us jumped headfirst and started new ventures during lockdown, but now that we’re moving back to normality, will you be able to keep going once it’s completely over? The same way we’ve seen new projects build up every day, will we see any crumble? Not trying to be a pessimist but it’s the truth.

The only way to build something long-lasting is to lay down the right foundation and to start building with a plan in place. It’s hard to build a house without a strong foundation (lesson learnt from TD Jakes). Is your hustle built on concrete or built on sand? Can your new business stand strong against all the seasons? With talks here and there about June 21st possibly not happening, will you be able to overcome that mountain?

A lot of us forget to enjoy the journey and just want to see the results almost straight away (I am very guilty of this). We want to see the 6 figures in our account, the 1 million subscribers, the sold-out sales… If your way of thinking is along those lines, then you need to shift it and focus on YOU. Don’t push anything out there into the world until YOU are ready. Until YOU understand the value that YOU have and start to lay the YOU foundation down.

Before I made my blog, I felt that I had something of value that I could share with everyone. Yes, sometimes it does get me down when I don’t see the views or the likes or the retweets. But I have supportive friends who remind me constantly not to give up, even if I don’t see the results. I stand firm knowing that I am pushing something of value out there and even if I don’t see the results straight away, I know that I am blessing someone.

Lesson for June: Lay Down The Foundation And Shift Your Mind

Luke 6:48 (GNT) – “He is like a man who, in building his house, dug deep and laid the foundation on rock. The river flooded over and hit that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.”
